The prospect of global exposure and representing the country at the World Finals of the biggest live music challenge in London will be through the strongest lure and biggest difference at The GBOB Challenge (The Global Battle of the Bands). Of course, the fifty thousand Ringgit Malaysia (RM50, 000) worth of prizes for the National Champion and one hundred thousand US Dollars (US$100,000) band development package for the World Champion sweetens the pot too and on top of that, there would be worldwide promotions and bragging rights after having to be crowned the “Best New Band in the World”.
For the third straight year, Malaysia takes part in this global vent aimed at breaking new bands –professional or amateur, signed or unsigned by a recording label, young or old –giving them a crack at international success. This year, undiscovered Malaysian bands play their own original music in a series of competition and then bring the National Finalists from over 30 countries to London to participate in the World Finals in December. This year event organizing partner ELEVATE makes the competition possible for undiscovered Malaysian bands to play their own original music in a series of qualifying heats in the Klang Valley and leading to a grand National Final. The competition then brings the National Finalists from over 30 countries to London to participate in the World Finals in December. ELEVATE together with GBOB brings renowned business partners together in support of the Malaysian music industry and delivers the experience to a higher level.
The World Final winner will stand a chance to be plucked out of obscurity and position themselves for the worldwide success with a band development package that includes one week in a top UK recording studio with a producer, a ten-date tour of major UK cities and US$10,000 in cash.
