The people have spoken, the weighty hopefuls have signed up and Asia’s first pan-regional weight loss unscripted series by Hallmark Channel, The Biggest Loser Asia, is well underway, but the lords of the exercise and healthy have remained unknowns, until now.

Since the announcement of The Biggest Loser Asia earlier this year, Asian fans of the hit American TV series have been ecstatic that they too are able to fulfill their desire to be a part of this dramatic weight-loss show, and have been eagerly anticipating its premiere on Hallmark Channel.

The excitement of the show set in motion an overwhelming response from contestant hopefuls and trainers alike, who declared their need to be a part of The Biggest Loser Asia. Many cried, danced, sang and shared their deeply personal weight stories. Even applicants for the trainer roles flexed their muscles and demonstrated their winning coaching abilities in professionally created audition videos.

But two fitness and health experts stood out from the sea of applicants from around the world, from as far as Los Angeles – the land of health-conscious and gorgeous people. They are, Kiwi expatriate living in Kula Lumpur, Malaysia, Dave Nuku, and the vivacious Aussie Kristy Curtis.

Contestants will be split into two competing teams – blue and red, and trained by fitness gurus Dave and Kristy respectively. With massive weight to lose and unhealthy lifestyle habits to alter, the fitness trainers have the undeniably difficult task in tightening the belts of those taking part in the first-ever Biggest Loser Asia.

Leading the blue team is Dave from Wellington, New Zealand. Dave, 30, may not be well known to the world, but global audiences have seen his handiwork in one of the biggest blockbuster in Hollywood history – as a personal trainer in his native hometown, he trained the cast and crew of the Lord of The Rings trilogy for cinematic fitness. Since then, this avid fitness enthusiast became fascinated with the multicultural capital of Malaysia and packed his bags and moved to Kuala Lumpur with his wife and young daughter. He is now one of the most credible and sought after motivational fitness experts in Kuala Lumpur, where he also serves as a regional fitness manager at the world’s leading fitness chain.

Having worked directly with over 1500 fitness personnel from the Asia region, Dave is familiar with diverse Asian cultures and its sensibilities. He is certain his ability to work with a diverse group is his biggest asset, and can’t wait to inspire the contestants under his care with the same enthusiasm for fitness, nutrition and healthy living, and lead one of the blue team members to the top.

Dave says, “I believe everyone has the power to change the way they look and the state of their health. The Biggest Loser Asia will be an unbelievable change for many and I’m extremely thrilled to lead the contestants in their remarkable journey to better health and looking great!”

Joining him in this life-altering quest is Australian-Chinese Kristy Curtis, one of the leading health and wellness experts from Down Under. Hooked to fitness as a teenager, the personable and friendly 31 year-old has turned her fitness regiment and passion into a successful career.

Having had her own body image struggles as a teenager, Kristy knows first hand how important fitness and health can be to those wanting to shed some weight and gain confidence in life. Having conquered that, she is now ready to impart her experience to others.

Describing herself as someone who just can’t sit still, Kristy will make sure the red team under her care will be up to task. She says, “You can take ownership of your health through eating healthy, thinking positively and keeping your body moving. I will do my best to get The Biggest Loser Asia contestants to adopt this motto.”

Kristy adds, “I believe health is not just about exercise and The Biggest Loser Asia contestants and TV viewers will certainly hear me repeating this mantra. I will encourage and lead contestants in a holistic approach towards wellness and ultimately the massive weight loss that will have one emerge as Asia’s Biggest Loser.”

The Biggest Loser Asia is the first Asian version of life-changing unscripted hit US series where overweight contestants are equipped with weight loss skills and resources to undergo physical makeovers, as they compete to lose weight for the ultimate cash prize of US$100,000. The buzz of the show began in June with the call for participation and will soon increase exponentially with its launch on Hallmark Channel.

Premiering exclusively on Hallmark Channel on 24 November @ 9pm (SG, MY, PH, HK), 8pm (TH, WIB), watch as hundreds take to the stage. Find out which lucky 30 have managed to tip the scales to their advantage, and make it to the first season of The Biggest Loser Asia.
