UNK BY DEMAND: KINGS OF CONVENIENCE LIVE IN MALAYSIA
Junk and Soundscape Records heard what the local music community wanted – and made it all come true.
Norwegian acoustic juggernauts finally lands on our shores!
Malaysia, things are looking up. First, we brought you Saosin. Now, Junk and Soundscape Records present to you By Demand: Kings Of Convenience LIVE in Malaysia. Second inJunk’s By Demand series, Kings Of Convenience are one of the most respected indie bands ever, promising to bring their unique brand of acoustic folk that’s caught the attention of critics and tastemakers worldwide.
‘Quiet’ isn’t a word well appreciated by this generation – they like it loud. But Kings Of Convenience have a statement to make, a mission to prove that louder doesn’t always mean better, and that’s exactly what they’ll do in Malaysia on 21 March 2010.
The indie-folk duo has always prided themselves in quiet intricacy, in lyrics and in humbly subtle atmospherics that complement gentle guitars. Indeed, their debut album, Quiet Is The New Loud spells out their mission louder than overdriven guitars that shatter eardrums, and now in their eleventh year together, KOC don’t show any signs of changing that. Yes, 11 years and 3 albums is no mean feat for any band.
The Kings’ third album, Declaration Of Dependence is an affirmation of their bond – an acknowledgement that man can’t be entirely independent as life would be lonely without people you can rely on. Peppered with diverse topics like how only worthy people should rule the world (‘Rule My World’) to the joy of meeting someone new (‘The Power of Not Knowing’),Declaration of Dependence’s quiet introspection explores these topics without hammering it in with brute force.
So get ready for a concert unlike any other when Kings of Convenience hit Malaysia. If you consider yourself a connoisseur of musical finesse over musical impact, it’s a must watch these two musical geniuses introduce you to a new kind of loud.
