8 February 2010 was a night to remember for Kris Allen fans in Malaysia, after having queued (some from as early as 10 am) to get a signature from the American Idol 9 winner. The first Idol winner to come to Malaysia, Kris, despite a very hectic travel schedule, wowed the expectant crowd with a showcase of more than 5 of his hit songs from his eponymous second album. Held in The Gardens’ Mid Valley Ballroom, the audience of 1000 displayed their love for the folk-rock singer with placards, as well as ‘opening’ for him with their very own renditions of “Live Like We’re Dying” and “No Boundaries”. JJ and Ian from Hitz FM, the official radio station (which spun the aforementioned song nearly 20 times the same morning) hosted, keeping the crowd warmed. Other sponsors, STAR World and ASTRO Life, thanked the crowd for watching American Idol on its channel. What’s more for Kris, earlier during the press conference the sponsors of the event presented him with a ‘namesake’, which were none other than a set of ‘keris’. Looks like Kris will be returning to Malaysia, judging from the response of the night.
