The most Revved-up Event of the Year!
Revive Isotonic celebrates grand success of Facebook campaign with unique, celebrity-studded event
Hundreds of party goers rocked one of the most unique events in town today when they attended the Revive Isotonic Rev-up Facebook Party, which true to its name, brought the social network from the confines of the Internet to revved-up, in-your-face, full-colour ‘life’!
Held at Euphoria by Ministry of Sound in Sunway, the event included performances by top local celebrities including Aznil Nawawi, Pop Shuvit, Dina from Malaysian Idol, Burn from Akademi Fantasia, ASTRO DJs as well as fun awards, fantastic prizes, cool costumes and a free-flow of food and beverages.
Centrestage, however, belonged to the guests lucky enough to score passes to the one-of-a-kind party. Their photos uploaded on Facebook as soon as they entered the premises, their status constantly updated, and energized by bottles of Revive Isotonic, they revved-up the party’s singular concept by ‘poking’ and sending one another hugs via ushers dressed up as Facebook mascots. Most of them also got ‘hit men’ from the FB application ‘Mafia Wars’ to ‘take out’ friends!
Organised by Permanis Sandilands Sdn Bhd, the manufacturers and distributors of Revive Isotonic, the event celebrated the company’s successful efforts to ‘Rev-up’ Malaysians and to thank fans for their support of the ‘Rev-up with Revive Isotonic’ contest on Facebook. The online contest, which ran from Dec. 14 2009 to Feb. 1, attracted over 32,000 fans, who either uploaded their most ‘revved-up’ photos or videos or voted for their favourite ‘revved-up’ moments.
The contest boasted the participation of several local celebrities and personalities and saw seven weekly prizes of RM1,000 each presented to the best videos and photos as voted by fans. Grand Prize winner Yap Wei Xiong received his RM5,000 prize from Permanis CEO Erwin Selvarajah during the event.
Yap’s winning entry shows him being revived intravenously with a bottle of Revive Isotonic after a car ‘accident’.
“When I saw the words ‘Rev-up’ and ‘Revive’ in the contest, I knew that I would have to come up with an entry that would connect both words,” said the 21-year-old student of Melbourne University, who’ll be returning to Australia this month after a three-month break. “And what better than someone being revved-up and revived with Revive Isotonic!”
The contest’s weekly winners uploaded entries that ranged from a little tyke pushing his grandmother around on a toy car and a student ‘walking’ down a flight of stairs on his hands to friends who created a taekwondo/basketball combination sport and a gravity-defying teenager.
Apart from the celebrity performances and a wandering magician, the momentum of the evening was kept on-track with the presentation of several awards. These included the ‘Rev-up Daredevil’ award, the ‘Rev-up Anti-Gravity’ award and the ‘Rev-up Sports’ award. Jason Phang from MY.Fm bagged the ‘Most Revved-up DJ’ award after amassing more votes than his counterparts from Hitz.Fm (JJ), ERA.Fm (Aznil) and THR Ragaa (Anantha).
All nine DJs from the four stations, however, walked out winners when Permanis announced that the stations would each receive a total of RM5,000 in cash and kind to be channeled to the charity of choice of the participating DJs.
Permanis Group Marketing Manager Hemalatha Ragavan was delighted with the response and overall results of the company’s first ever social network-driven activity.
‘We more than accomplished our aim to get Malaysians all ‘revved-up’!” she said. “It just goes to show that with a little encouragement, we’re all willing to transform our daily activities into moments of pure, spontaneous fun.”
Hemalatha said the contest was organised on Facebook in sync with Revive Isotonic being a re-hydrating energy drink for a charged-up, younger generation. She added that based on the campaign’s success, the brand would continue to utilise a mix of old and new media to drive future promotions as well as firmly cement Revive’s position as one of the leading isotonic drinks in the country.
The ‘Rev-up with Revive Isotonic’ contest had the support of several well-known fans, including Hitz.Fm’s Morning Crew of Ean and JJ, DJs from ERA.Fm (Burn, Dina Era, Dina Mi), MY.Fm (Jason & Mei Yan), THR Ragga (Ram & Aanantha) as well as Aznil Nawawi, Hannah Tan and Belinda Chee. These celebrities also posted photos and videos on what they do to get all ‘revved-up’ on the contest’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/ReviveIsotonic.
