It was a memorable occasion for some 30 children from Pusat Jagaan Titian Kaseh, Titiwangsa when they were treated to a pre-New Year celebration, a day filled with fun and games, complete with wholesome meal, at Kenny Rogers ROASTERS in Setapak, recently. The pre-New Year celebration was held in conjunction with the Kenny Rogers ROASTERS Wishing Tree Project, kicked off from 16 of November 2009.
It was a day full of cheer and laughter as the children enjoyed themselves tremendously during the games session with our favourite celebrities, Daphne Iking, Atilia and Yasmin Hani. The celebrities pranced around with the children during the Statue Dance competition and also helped in the game renamed Pin the Chicken. To end the occasion on a sweet note, KRR staff together with the celebrities gave out plenty of goodies and presents to the children.
The children present at the event were amongst the children from various homes across the nation that include Klang Valley, Johor, Melaka, Seremban, Pahang, Kelantan, Perak, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak that have been selected to hang their wishes on the Wishing Trees in the 60 participating Kenny Rogers ROASTERS restaurants nationwide. This year, 1,261 children from 28 homes get their wishes fulfilled at this year’s KRR Wishing Tree project.
“We are glad that with this project, we can bring smiles and cheers to these children. Nothing beats seeing the joy on a child’s face when they open up their gifts and having their wishes realized, and that is the pleasure of giving” expressed Esther Woo, Senior Brand Manager of Berjaya Roasters (M) Sdn Bhd.
“I am so pleased to know that the spirit of giving has not waned one bit even in the face of our economic situation. The project is again a success as people from all walks of life still remain generous. Without a doubt the team at Kenny Rogers ROASTERS is determined to reach out to more children next year as we continue to expand” she added.
Held for the fifth consecutive year, the KRR Wishing Tree Project is part of Kenny Rogers ROASTERS’ KRR Community Chest Campaign in which the company does its bit to help the less fortunate. This project involved 60 participating Kenny Rogers ROASTERS outlets across the nation. Each restaurant will then adopt a home and collect the wishing cards from the children. The collected wishing cards will then be hung up on the KRR Wishing Tree in the restaurant where generous Malaysians will choose to fulfill the wishes.
