Touch’nGo Battle of The Bands 2009

TOUCH ‘N GO has embarked on expanding its retail sector and in a recent recruitment drive, more than 100 merchants in the Subang Jaya, Sunway and USJ areas were recruited within a two-month period. Due to the rising consumer preference for cashless transactions, it was a fitting opportunity for the company to create its FIRST “Touch ‘n Go Zone” in these earmarked areas to develop a cashless community here.

The winner of Touch ‘n Go Battle of The Band 2009, The Great Metropolitan Expressway of SAE, receiving their winning prize of RM10,000  from En. These vicinities boast a highly dense youth population due to the large number of higher learning institutions and schools. Therefore in line with its tagline, “Life In The Fast Lane”, this exciting new scheme is targeted at youths in these areas to leverage on the enthusiasm, energy and vigour of this young generation to champion Touch ‘n Go’s products and services.

This also served as a platform for the company to sponsor a unique marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the Touch ‘n Go Battle of the Bands 2009. The Sunway Pyramid Orange Entrance Piazza was a fitting venue to host the Grand Finale and six (6) Finalists will compete for the Grand Prize of RM10,000.00. Aptly themed Supporting and Uniting Youth & Music for the Community the Touch ‘n Go Battle of the Bands 2009 aims to uncover the ability and creativity of our youths and at the same time it aims to create awareness of and support the underprivileged in our community. Touch ‘n Go will match the prize amount awarded to the six (6) finalists and will contribute a total of RM20,000.00 to the six identified Non-Governmental Organisations, which are:

•    Children’s Wish Society of Malaysia
•    Pertubuhan Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (RACTAR)
•    Women’s Aid Organisation of Malaysia
•    Majlis Kanser Nasional (MAKNA)
•    Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA)
•    Progressive Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)

1st runner-up of Touch ‘n Go Battle of The Bands 2009 was Revuforte of UiTM, receiving their winning prize  of RM5,000 from En. Khair Ul-Anuar Yusoff, Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd’s Chief Commercial Officer.   The non-profit organisation (NGO) that was represented by Revuforte,  SPCA - Society of Cruelty to Animals won RM5,000.

1st runner-up of Touch ‘n Go Battle of The Bands 2009 was Revuforte of UiTM, receiving their winning prize of RM5,000 from En. Khair Ul-Anuar Yusoff, Touch ‘n Go Sdn Bhd’s Chief Commercial Officer. The non-profit organisation (NGO) that was represented by Revuforte, SPCA - Society of Cruelty to Animals won RM5,000.

This event was focused on meeting the two-prong objective of creating a cashless community within the Subang Jaya, Sunway and USJ areas, and as an avenue to cultivate and encourage musically talented youth to compete healthily. At the same time, these bands are advocates for the NGOs they represent, arousing awareness and support for these organisations.

Touch ‘n Go will continue to popularise cashless transactions among retailers as significant growth has been registered in the company’s cross sector business. As apart from toll-highways, the Touch ‘n Go card has been widely used for public transport, theme parks, parking and retail.

2nd runner-up was Once Upon A Time There Was A Sausage Named Bob from IACT. They received RM2,000 and their represented non-profit organisation (NGO),  RACTAR – Pertubuhan Rumah Amal Cahaya Tengku Ampuan Rahimah received RM2,000.
