Thanuja Anathan, the newly crowned Miss World Malaysia unveils her stunning evening gown at an exclusive media luncheon at Sakae Sushi, Sunway Pyramid today. The dazzling creation by official Couturier, Nazleen Noor embodies both cultural expression and contemporary chic and will be fashioned on the world stage at the Miss World 2009 pageant.
Inspired by her natural surroundings, Nazleen is today one of Malaysian’s most renowned batik designers. Unlike the traditional styles, Nazleen has injected modernity into her range of designer outfits and stressed that there are no reappears when it comes to creativity.
For the upcoming world pageant, Nazleen felt it was appropriate to highlight Thanuja’s smooth tanned skin with a bright yellow-hued tie-dyed dress labelled Sunrise. To add texture and contrast, douses of brown splashes out across the fabric making the fairy-like creation light and elegant all together. Punctuated with gold broaches lining the front, the dress breaks out into waves of layered chiffon fabric and flows down into a delicate train accentuating Thanuja’s slender silhouette, emanating a multi-ethnic look that portrays Malaysia’s colourful culture and heritage.
Dreamy and sophisticated, Nazleen stated, “The dress is very light and ethereal like the sun and thewaves. It gives you a contemporary yet breezy and lively feel and I wanted it to reflect Thanuja’s personality. She is a vibrant individual that radiates warmth and charisma, so I decided that her dress should complement that persona.
Thanuja will be jet setting across the Indian Ocean to London en route for the Miss World 2009 competition this coming 6 November 2009. Once in the UK, she will join 102 contestants from around the globe for a month, embarking on various activities such as photo shoots, charity visits and event appearances before the entourage moves on to Johannesburg, South Africa for the grand finale on 12 December 2009.
