One Million Creative Ideas for One World University

The Honourable Minister Datuk Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili, from Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), has paid the first official visit to Limkokwing University on Tuesday August 25^th, 2009 for the launch of Innovation Bank – An Online Creativity Library.

The Minister and guests were heartily welcomed by the University’s founder, Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Lim Kok Wing, and members of the Senior Management. They were taken for a Worldwide Gallery Campus tour, and were pleasantly amazed at the innovative atmosphere surrounding the University. “There is just so much ‘Wow’ in here”, said Mr. Husin Jazri, CEO of CyberSecurity Malaysia.

Hundreds of students looked on for the much anticipated event. Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili carried the audience along his speech with his wit and sense of humour. He bestowed on Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing the title of “Father of Innovation and Creativity Education in the country”.

Guli-Guli's exhibition is in conjunction with the spirit of 1Malaysia.

Limkokwing University of Creative Technology was addressed as the Innovation & Creativity Centre, which will serve to “institutionalize ideas to achieve the goal of making Malaysia a knowledge-driven economy”. The initiatives of Limkokwing Innovation Bank will open doors to a network of innovation centres in the future.

“If the nation is 1Malaysia, then Limkokwing University is One World University”, said the Minister.

He ended his speech with Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing’s statement, “Why do something which so many people are doing when there are so many things that nobody is doing?” He expressed high hopes that students coming from Limkokwing University will be the offspring of innovation.

The Bank’s launch marked another creative idea from Limkokwing University. Funded by MOSTI, it offers a wide spectrum of creative ideas and solutions coming directly from the University’s prized assets: its students. The online depository will be a connector between the leaders of tomorrow and companies searching for innovative solutions.
