Danny Lim won prizes worth more than RM 50,000 when he became the first Malaysian Male winner of the Ford model, supermodels search Malaysia 2009. The graphic design student could not believe he finally made it to the top and bag the first spot having to juggle between his end of semester assignments and the various shoots for the show. “I feel relieved, the show finally came to an end and I still can’t believe I managed to finish my assignments and be the male winner,” said Danny, after the show.
The selection and announcement of the male and female winners and runners up were made by Katie ford, renowned modelling industry leader. Katie was the guest of honour and joined the competition’s resident judges for the finale. Following months of hard work, dedication, and perseverance, the ford models supermodel of the world Malaysia 2009 competition came to an end at Rootz KL club during a stunning finale. Danny and the other contestants modelled in apparels provided by well established brands such as Jaspal, Roxy, Quiksilver and Triumph.
One of the highlights of the finale was the fashion show by the Limkokwing University showcasing its fashion collection and the university models coming from Russia, Lithuania, Sudan and Kazakhstan among other countries. Asked what his future plans are, the Penangite said he intends to complete his graphic design degree in Limkokwing but first he will go back to his hometown for the holidays. In each episode, contestants have faced an industry based challenge, designed not only to test them, but to teach them valuable skills, techniques and lessons.
Contestants have been vying for a total prize pool worth over RM 500, 000. The Most coveted prize for female contestants is the opportunity to participate in the ford models’ supermodel of the world finals in Brazil, 14 January 2010. Ten episodes have been shot in total, with eight episodes being uploaded to the Ford supermodel website (www.fordsupermodel.tv). The Finale will be aired on Star world on the 19 December at 6.00.
