Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen tells a story of Sam Witwicky’s (played by Shia LaBeouf) life after the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons –as he tries to live a normal teenage life going off to college and keeping his relationship with Mikaela (played by Megan Fox) in check. Long distance relationships are hard but things soon become complicated when Bumblebee crashes onto a college frat party in campus. It has been 2 years since the Allspark has been destroyed, with only a piece of fragment left, kept away in a military high-security hideout, Megatron dead and the Autobots join forces with the American Top Secret military called NEST to continue hunting down all the Decepticons that are hiding out all over the world.

The battle scene in this movie generates a somewhat shared battle between man and machine whereas in comparison with the first Transformers, the battle scenes concentrated more between the Autobots and Decepticons. It shows that regardless of the futuristic and more up-to-date weapons that the Decepticons acquire, the human race still manages to outdo the mean machines with their military strategy. Also Bumblebee has taken a tougher role, showing that this character responsible of Sam’s safety has evolved with even more skills, determination and strength. He was one of the many highlights in the movie.

Old and new robots begin to rise from good and bad. One of them named Jetfire, who switch sides from a Decepticon to an Autobot, tells us the history of the Primes and how the new age robots of Cybertron do not acquire similar levels of skills and ability as their elders.

The entire visual effects & animation  is simply amazing, that it’s really hard for me to describe it to you in detail but all I can personally say is that everything looks superbly real –from the chase scenes in the beginning to the battle of Optimus Prime, Megatron and 2 other Decepticons in the woods; trashing trees, cities, buildings and roads. To level out the intensity and awe of t he movie, the characters that call themselves the ‘Twin’s adds in some humour to the movie.

Catch Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on the big screen soon, and watch out for the matrix in this movie. (Watch to find out!)

This comment is more for Michael Bay. I hope he will read it somehow…

I’m a die-hard fan of Transformers but Revenge of the Fallen is a little of a disappointment to me. I just read another review which I somewhat feel the same way as that writer. But at least he enjoyed the starting part of the movie. I didn’t enjoy that either. The build up for the scenes was not done right. But I completely agree with this writer when he says,

“… The film then makes it to the final act which is where the film becomes a complete mess. There is plenty of action here and some of it is good but then some of it is very bad. The human characters run around and yell for a little over thirty minutes dodging explosion after pointless explosion… There is also a moment of rebirth for one of the Autobots that happens so fast and is so messy that I’m not even sure what happened. Then after the rebirth he is wasted in an all too brief of a fight which is a shame seeing how there was so much pointless action before it. The film also ends rather abruptly with no real closure. It seems as though they realized they had spent way too much time in the final act and decided closure was not important.” ~ Paul Albright

In making a movie like the first Transformer and Armageddon, the director, Michael Bay has done a superb job in maintaining the originality of idea, creativity in interpreting the theme, story telling ability, direction and emotional pull along with some awesome special effects. These basic criterias are extremely important to make a specific movie successful. The second part of this movie has failed in many areas in these aspects. It seemed like he rushed to finish the job and hurried to release it fast without examining it further. Some scenes are also a duplicate of the first Transformers movie with some modification on it with the hopes that people won’t notice it, I suppose. That is so unprofessional.

Scenes like the resurrection of Optimus Prime from death failed to create the emotion pull I expected. This is a special moment and it was way too short and made way to insignificant. I’m not a very emotional person, but this is really crucial for a good movie, without over-doing it of course. There are also other scenes where such emotional pull could have been made more significant and powerful. Such scenes especially in a war/action movies can actually push the emotional pull up by increasing the spirit of honor, valor, victory, courage, sacrifice, nobility, and much more accompanied by inspirational music score like it was done in the first one. Instead, it is moving to become more cartoon-like, especially with the two twin character bots who was made to be humorous and absolutely ridiculous. Now, this is just over-doing it. Things was just fine how it was. It already had it’s natural humor. They should’ve just maintained it. Please don’t mix Wall-E behaviors with Transformers. It just don’t work.

Based on the first Transformers movie, I expected more from this second one, but the overall arrangement and editing was a complete mess just like the Terminator: Salvation movie. Director, James Cameron did a good job for the first, second and the third Terminator movie but the new director, McG again made a complete mess out of it. The only good thing about Revenge of the Fallen was its awesome visual and special effects. Otherwise, it is a sad disappointment.

This is just my honest opinion and critics. I know that there are many out there who would find this movie awesome and satisfying, but I still think Michael Bay, my favorite movie director could have done way better than this. I just don’t know what happen to him. What was the problems faced behind the screen. All I know is, he is a man of experience, standard, quality and vision. He is one of my idols. Better hopes next time…

Looks like Michael Bay has his own website and forum too. He accepts feedback and suggestion. So I have left this comment there as well. And looks like I’m not alone… Here’s where I have posted my feedback:
