After a series of difficulties in their marriage, culminating with the loss of an unborn child, Kate and John Coleman, who have a son and daughter, decide the best way to heal is to add to their family by adopting a nine-year-old girl named Esther.

What’s wrong with Esther? Well, to state the obvious, she is an insanely pale looking child, she dresses strange (somewhat like Victorian styled frocks) and she has that psychotic stare that you know would put you off adopting her. It’s really bizarre how the adopted family instantly decide to adopt her without checking Esther’s childhood personal history and why she couldn’t (or refused) to get along with other orphans at the orphanage that she was in –until all hell breaks loose. Makes me wonder if that would be the normal method of an adoption…to just go in there blindly, pick a child that you somewhat feel like you connect with and take them home?
Maybe for this movie, it’s just cutting to the chase or perhaps showing the ‘how-not-to-adopt’ pointer –which would
probably start a dispute with Orphanages around the world to portray such evil things about orphans or children for that matter.
However, for such a young actress, Isabelle Fuhrman pulled off her acting skills in this movie especially with such a challenging role, much like Linda Blair in The Exorcist. Though it may seem like this movie is just another female version of “The Omen”, well think again. Go catch this movie on the big screen and watch the twist in the plot of this movie!
