Singaporean indie band Electrico receives an invitation to play in Hohaiyan Rock Festival in Taipei, the same festival that has staged bands like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club from USA, as well as Taiwan’s top bands May Day & Soda Green.

Touted the largest free outdoor music event in northern Taiwan, Hohaiya Rock Festival is a 3-day music extravaganza held every summer at Fulong Beach, situated at the north of Taipei.

And Electrico is proud to be the 1st Singaporean band to be invited to perform at the festival. When asked how he felt about performing at the festival, Dave Tan of Electrico said, “Its always exciting to play in a new country, let alone their biggest festival… We’re certainly looking forward to rocking out Singapore style over there. Last year the 3-day festival drew 400,000 people so its kind of like a mini Glastonbury which makes it even more awesome!” Bassist Desmond Goh commented on the band’s myspace “We are more than excited to be in the festival! Time to brush up our mandarin…”

According to a spokesperson from organizer Trans-World TV Production Co., they wanted to locate a Singaporean band and through a series of online search, Electrico came in tops with their accolades and impressive history of gigs, tours.

Into the 10th year of the festival, Hohaiyan’s line-up this year includes VHS OR BETA from USA, AMIT (aka A*mei) and Stanley Huang from Taiwan, Clazziquai Project from Korea, SuperVC from China, My Little Airport from Hong Kong, Fumido from Japan, Soler from Macau and Estranged from Malaysia.
