It was a mad, mad awards show!! Typical of the zany and unpredictable nature of VIMA, there was an equal share of chaos, action, shocks and shortcomings. But what the heck..it was the last, most baddest awards show that will ever grace Malaysia or even the region. VIMA 2010 rocked and the big winners of the night were Pesawat, Deja Voodoo Spells, Kraft, Melissa Indot and the super-group collective – The M.A.D Project ( Melissa Indot, Altimet and Deja Voodoo Spells).

As Siva Chandran, Managing Editor of Voize.my and Founder of VIMA trumpeted his last speech and signalled the end of VIMA and his exit from the music scene, Dato Sri Shazalli Ramly, CEO of Celcom, took the stage later and proclaimed that Celcom will support VIMA 2011 and make it 3 times bigger!
And where else in the world would you find a Hummer vehicle thrown at the audience (and ending up in the wine glass of a guest and splashing all over her blouse), or a guitar catching on fire (Benchmarx took guitar smashing to the next level) or even the sleekest beat-boxers enthrall the 800 strong audience with a flawless performance courtesy of Movemint?

It all happened at the final VIMA awards show, as the organizers took their bow in style by serving an eclectic platform of award winners and performers. You had to be there to know what went down, and the crowd sizzled with the theme of Indiecent:Krazysexykool.
“It was a crazy night, but we somehow pulled it off despite of some issues due to the size of the crowd. We didnt expect 500 celebrities to turn up, and the total crowd was way past 800 people. But, we’re an imperfect awards show, and there was too much fun and action too focus on the shortcomings. Yes, I did announce our exit from the Malaysian music scene so that we can focus on the Asian music scene and our next awards project, AVIMA 2010. It has been an amazing 17 months since we first came up with the idea of doing the Malaysian Indie music awards, and with VIMA 2010 and VIMA 2009, I guess we helped shape and change the lives of so many talented musicians in Malaysia, and also in Brunei. Who knows, maybe next year we could include Singapore and make VIMA 2011 into a 3 country awards show?” said Siva Chandran, founder of VIMA.
There were some amazing performances including the massive finale by Rogue Squadron, Joe Flizzow, Altimet and Micbandits (winner of the Best Hip-hop gropup award). There were also adrenaline pumped showcases by The Poseidon Connection featuring Kraft, Prema Yin, Nao, Benchmarx, The Movemint (featuring beatboxers, Vandal, Young Stunna and Kraft), Bruneian acts – Karacoma and Adi & JuJu.
