The number ONE youth weekly publication, Malaysian Today officially launched their SYOKSHOCK! Student Night on 1st October 2009 at Mardigras One Utama.

‘Exhibit. Perform. Party’, an extension of the creative platform The Circle -  was supported by Malaysian Today and Voize.my.  Students got a chance to let their hair down while appreciating all forms of art – witnessing bands, singers, dancers, artists and other young creatizens congregating in one single place!

SYOKSHOCK! Student Night also teamed up with 8TV, I-amtv Independent Music TV, and Mixology DJ Academy for an unforgettable night at its inaugural event.

The celebration that kicked off at 8.30 pm saw students, lecturers and partygoers arriving on the red carpet in style. Not too long after, guests were entertained by performances from talented band The Screw Peas. The Kajang boys showed off their musical versatility before making way for the talented singer from IACT College, Esty.

An Honest Mistake really got the crowd going as they performed their own songs. The band Djezna’s Stalker who are no stranger to the SYOKSHOCK scene then gave a rousing version of ‘Born to be Wild’ and an honest-to-goodness ‘emo’ rendition of Cryin’.

The next performer who took the stage was rapper TQ from SEGi Kota Damasara. The crowd then danced with and was entertained by a sassy belly dancer  from Sunway College, Pooja.

The headlining act for the night were the SSK ( Serius Selamba Krew) and Jin Hackman. Part of a collective Rogue Squadron, the whole crew together with their DJ and beat boxer was definitely worth the wait.

It didn’t stop there – throughout the night and even into the wee hours of the morning, DJ Krates from DJ Fuzz’s Mixology DJ Academy worked the turntables with unabating energy while 8tv’s Prem kept the hinges on the door swinging. The night was nothing short of syok!
