Ze! is back –all glam-ed up & louder than ever with her new album set to be released on May 12th, 2010. Charlene Joseph catches up with Ze! to find out about her sudden disappearing act after the VIMA 2010. Here’s what she managed to dig up…
1. Tell us about this SXSW Festival that you will be performing at and what it is all about:
- SXSW is held in Texas, US every year where loads of bands from around the world will come perform in front of thousands of people. This year bands like We are Scientists, Stone Temple Pilots, The Crystal Method, Chamillionaire, Broken Social Scene and Solange are headlining – so it’s that much fun!
2. How did you end up in the SXSW Festival along with another Malaysian band Pop Shuvit?
- I missed out on the band application but I emailed them anyway, and I guess they liked my music and sent me an invitation. Needless to say, I was very happy (smiles)
3. What are the skits you have up your sleeves that you’ll perform to represent Malaysia?
- Regretfully, I’ve decided not to do the show this year because of the lack of time to get an artist visa. And lack of finances because all my money is going towards the album. So, next year!
4. Would you prefer to date someone in the entertainment business or are you already seeing someone?
- No I’m not seeing anyone and I wouldn’t mind someone who’s also in show business but preferably not in music. Maybe in movie business, I think film directors can be very sexy.
5. What are your current projects that you are working on after your big VIMA 2010 win?
- My album! I’ve had to cancel quite a few shows and other things because of it, but I believe it’s going to be well worth it. It’s set for release May 12th (smiles)
6. If you were a biscuit, which would you be?
- Oreos, for sure.
7. Tell us how you feel about your track, ‘I am Glam’ being No.1 on the Malaysian English Top 10 for a couple of weeks now:
- Awesome!
8. What did you do to celebrate this amazing chart topper occurrence?
- Ha-ha! The problem with me is I always forget to celebrate; instead these little successes only push me to work harder towards my next goal. Like an addiction. Okay, maybe I celebrated by spending hours watching ‘The Office’. I am totally addicted to that series, right now.
