Over 200 students from Australian International School Malaysia recently had the chance to get up close and personal with the animals brought in for a visit at the school by Sunway Lost World of Tambun. The visit was part of Lost World’s nation-wide roadshow to generate awareness about the recently launched Petting Zoo that houses more than 4,000 animals from over 55 species.

“We wanted to create a roadshow with a difference, and instead of just waiting for people to come and visit us, we decided to bring Lost World ‘live’ outside of Ipoh. We took this opportunity also to try and create a sense of appreciation of animals in the younger generation through this educational visit to the school”, said Shahrul Fariz, Assistant Marketing Manager of Lost World of Tambun, who was part of the entourage together with 7 dancers from the Malayana tribe who started the programme with a tribal dance.

Niya the Burmese python was a clear hit with the students aged between 4 and 8, as the gentle reptile was seen to have a great time with the students. There were five other animals with her – a guinea pig, a red-winged macaw, a ferret, an iguana, and a spring hare.

“The Australian International School Malaysia encourages learning through exploration. This visit has given our students an exciting chance to have a first-hand experience with animals that we normally only learn about through books,” said James Quin, Junior School Curriculum co-ordinator of Australian International School Malaysia.

For those with a love for animals, The Lost World of Tambun is proud to announce their new attraction, The Lost World Petting Zoo. Covering an area of 80,000 square feet, a unique petting zoo has been created within the natural jungle, against a backdrop of limestone hills. This is a place for recreation and learning for visitors of all ages and a place where families can spend time together interacting with the animals. Lost World Petting Zoo is definitely something to look forward to as it allows the public, especially children, to touch, feel, feed and play with the 4,000 animals from 55 different species.

“Our new petting zoo features a large variety of exotic animals in an environment created as close to nature as possible and apart from being a fun activity that families can do together, it also serves as a nature education platform for schools and tourists”, Shahrul added.

The Lost World Petting Zoo is a visually stunning display of animals to be enjoyed by children and adults alike. Innovative display areas such as the Rabbit Wonderland, Serpentarium, Tortoise Kingdom, Rainforest Trail have made learning about animals both easy and interesting, and more importantly, memorable.

The opening hours of Lost World of Tambun are between 11:00am – 6:00pm on weekdays and 10:00am – 6:00pm on weekdays. On school holidays and public holidays the park is opened from 10 am – 6 pm.
