Proud Moment: One of the Designers, from Indonesia, taking her finale walk down the runway
Forty-eight designs by twelve students went down the catwalk in a very glamorous fashion at the Limkokwing Graduation Hair Show 2009 at the University’s Hall of Fame.
The hair show, themed “Creativity Unlimited,” served as the students’ final exhibition, challenging their hair-styling prowess in four different categories, Hip-hop, Banquet, Seduction, and Fantasy.
The Hip-Hop category gave the students a chance to show their mettles at styling cornrows – a traditionally African style, while Banquet was showcasing the students’ hair styling techniques for brides.
The Seduction section predicted the rise of the future cut and colour styles in highlighted hues such as brunettes, blondes, and bi-coloured hair of green and yellow.

Fantasy segment challenged the students’ creativity in sending down avant-garde hairdos.
The hair designs were scored based on the overall presentation from the inspiration, hair style, make-up and outfit.
Jellafora Janie, a nineteen-year old hair design student from Indonesia, sent down a stunning life-sized, bird-adorned headpiece for the Fantasy segment, inspired by the Cenderawasih bird.
“My inspiration was drawn from the animal mascot of my hometown, Papua, Indonesia,” Janie said.
Janie explained that Cenderawasih bird, also known as the Bird of Paradise was chosen for its beautiful multi-coloured feathers around its tail.
