The search for the Malaysia round of Ford Models Supermodel of the World continued at Limkokwing University. The reality show is looking for two supermodels among 10 female and 10 male finalists. Danny Lim, a University student from semester 6 Graphic Design degree, is among the 10 male models that have passed through the series of auditions. In each episode, the models have to undergo a series of challenge and training sessions.
In this episode set at the Limkokwing University campus, the models posed in a hi-fashion photo shoot while wearing the University students’ designs. The University also facilitated a brief training session for the models to learn about fashion design by inviting three student designers, Christina Pedersen, Mubaraq Haniff, and Preeta Sharenia Nithianantham. “It’s a bit overwhelming, the experience and the around the clock shooting,” Lim confessed. “I have my final assignments and exhibition to juggle between shoots.”
Prisca Wong, the Reality Show Project Coordinator, said, “this show was a good training for the models because they would have to go through double the amount of work if they are working inside the fashion industry.”
The female winner will represent Malaysia in the final of the Ford Model Supermodel of the World in Brazil on January 2010 while the male winner will be assigned on a lucrative deal with a top international modelling agency. All top 10 finalists will also walk away with Rafflesia pearls. Amber Chia, show’s executive producer and supermodel said that a good model must be able to carry jewellery well and should know how to draw attention to the pieces she is wearing. Amber Chia also thanked Limkokwing University for its support during this journey and she also added that the university contribution to the success of the show is unparallel. Katie Ford, the heiress to Ford Models Inc will be the special guest judge to help pick the winners.
Talking about the finale, Gillian Hung praised the models for their hard work and said that she has always been searching for Malaysian talent over the past 20 years. She also added that most of them do not have any experience and the show is a good platform for these models to come forward. Photographer Azrul Kevin Abdullah spoke about the journey to the finale during the press conference and said that the last month has been an adventure. The Limkokwing University is the official production partner for this competition.
