Bahir, the co-director of ‘Meter’, a film made for the 15Malaysia project, has some big names in his film. Among these include Khairy Jamaluddin, Namewee, Amber Chia, and Jason Lo. Khairy plays a taxi driver in the film, with Jason Lo as a foreigner, and Namewee as a passenger with Amber as his friend. Here Bahir talks about cameos, directing a big-name cast, meeting Yasmin Ahmad, 15Malaysia making it to Pusan and Rotterdam, as well as his other ’secret life’ – as a band member of the grunge outfit Silvergun Superman (who played at the MTV World Stage recently).
Pete Teo is the brains behind the 15Malaysia project, and it is supported by P1 WiMAX and ruumz. There are 15 films (14 have been completed and screened) by 15 talented indie film makers in Malaysia, including ‘Chocolate’ by Yasmin Ahmad.
The repertoire of filmmakers and cast include: Yasmin Ahmad, Ho Yuhang, James Lee, Tan Chui Mui, Amir Muhammad, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, Amber Chia, Datuk Haji Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, Sharifah Amani, Jason Lo, Khairy Jamaluddin, Harith Iskandar, Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, Daphne Iking, Tian Chua, Sarah Lian, Serena C, Patrick Teoh, Baki Zainal and Ida Nerina, amongst others.
